2020 Project: Loma Vista Deck Restoration Project

2008-2009 - Rotary Quad and Deck Project:
Nearly 12 years ago our club completed a large project at Bernard Elderidge Elementary School (Now Loma Vista Immersion Accademy). The plaques seen below still reside on the wall of the quad area. The project was completed with the involvement of all our Petaluma Valley Rotarians and a contribution of $10,000 with matching funds of $10,000 coming from the school district.

The current deck is seen below. Along with the building of the deck was a perimeter of concrete with imbedded benches (see small bench at far left of deck photo). The deck has held up very well but is in need of some minor repair and refinishing. Our newest hands-on project is underway - with a budget of $1,000 we will be making the deck "like new."

STEP ONE: Lead by our own Bill Johns and assisted by Jerry Besses, Paulie Johns, and Sam Tuft we repaired and replaced the railing around the center tree area which had been pushed over and damaged by the growing tree trunks and roots.

STEP TWO: Following this expert work several of our Rotarians, John FitzGerald, Pam Tuft, Matt Stone, and Joanne O'Grady embarked on a day-long power washing adventure which proved quite successfull in removing old staining.

STEP THREE: Next we had a wonderful crew of President-Nominee Dawn, President-Elect Bonnie, Past-President Pamela and her 2 Grandchildren (who did amazing work), and Joanne O'Grady scrub the deck with a strong cleaner. And Jim Furuli dropped by with some needed supplies.
